Oh, btw, go hang round in www.sgreefclub.com. I'm sure some of those chillers will appear in their buy/sell forum for sale... probably around the $800 range.

Anyway, lots of second hand chillers for sale in marine forums. Just be sure to check for salt water corrosion and flush the chiller thoroughly before using it on a FW tank.

Heard that the chillers were offered to competitors first. I'm sure they all snapped it up. Even if they don't need it, tey can sell it for a good profit.

I'm going to stop commenting now, as most of my info is 2nd hand... but I do trust the sources.

Before this gets out of hand, here's the real story about JBJ's Artica chillers at Aquarama 2005.

The team at the booth are not doing retail sales nor are they retail salesman. Ask them some technical questions and they may answer you. Otherwise, they are just there to ensure their displays are in good order and there is no problems with the chillers at the competition section.

The reason that they do not do any retail sales at the show is because they are the wholesaler and all sales have to be channel to the respective retailers so as to protect the retailers interest. Besides, these aren't exactly small items for cash and carry.

As for the chillers used for marine tank competition, participants do have the option to buy them at a slightly discounted price. I believe most of them took up the offer.

On a separate note, did anybody see the new Teco chiller? It has a built in option for heater and UVC as well. Also, there is a separate tubing for CO2 injection if need be. COOL!!!!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Thanks Benny,

This information should spur many to participate in the planted tank competition should they decide to do this the next time around.

Benny, the new Teco chiller that was on show is by far the greatest leap of technology a chiller can have. But the ones with the heater isn't for SG market as the weather here won't be that cold to require that. That's what the Teco rep was telling me. The Silent Running function is a great addition for hobbyist who want to keep a tank right by their bedside. The performance of the chiller may lag when you activate the Silent Running but I believe user may switch on the Silent Running when they go to sleep if the chiller is right by their bedside. There's a UV function too that comes with the chiller.

Haiz, I hope more kids will ask lesser from Santa this year as I would want to wish to have the new Teco chiller! Hope Santa grants more wish to adult this year!

The new Teco chiller is sleek in appearance with loads of new features (even with titanium cooling coil, compared the the copper coil previouly)
    However, i didn't knew that there's a co2 connection.

    BTW, to continue with the original title, i bought;
    1. 1 tin of spirulina power
    2. 1 tin of cyclop-eeze
    3. 1 tin of cyclop-eeze fwafer
    4. 1 tin of brine shrimp eggs
    5. 1 bottle of A.B.A (Aqua Bacta Aid)
    6. 1 bottle of water conditioner
All the above from the Argent booth

    7. Gen X new fan
    8. Gen x New fan compatible thermostat.

was there looking for a cheap FGT but end up buying all the goodies for my fishes..wish i got more money to buy more

i was wondering what logistics problem wld have caused the planted tank competition to be taken off this year. WIth all the layer of coral chips & live rocks, having to stablise the water & conditioning the fishes, wasn't it a logistic issue too?
