I would like to find out how many you are having Open Tank (Tank without cover) or Tank with cover for Plant tank.

This would hopefully help me to decide what I should get for my new (or reused) 4 feet planted tank.

    Cheers!

    Open tank for me.

    Fishgoogle,

    Where are you from?

In Singapore, because of the heat, we tend to leave the tank top open for ventilation. My tank came with the cover, but I removed it for the above reason.

I think why pple use open tank is becos so that you can lower temp to at least 27 degree. Unless you are using chiller

    Hi KC,
I am Singaporean lah, but not very knowledgeable with planted tank... and thinking of getting one. However realise there are covered and non covered tanks, so just wanted to get an opinion on this.

However based on the feedback so far, it seems like open tank is the choice for planted tank.

    Cheers!

I am also using open tank. Last time used to think that if were to use cover one will it look more nice n neat. But when come to think of the temperature in sg, I think it is best now unless the tank are going to be in a air-con room.

My tank is totally enclosed inside a cabinet.

Because of that, temp can go up to 31 degrees.
My current DIY fan set-up will reduce it to 29 in the afternoon.

    agree with blueray I do.

As it is a case of neatness over temp for my tank.

open tank for me as well... both for the plants/shrimps as well as reducing the temperature...

but do take note if you have any fishes that may "jump"... try not to keep the water level too high... another advantage is that it allows for more gap for ventilation from your lightings (if you have one)...

Open top for me too. Unless you got chiller or have a tank in the aircon office.
I found that since using tanks with euro-bracing 3 years back, there's only 1 or 2 cases where fish jump out. So it probably helps.

Somehow I prefer a covered tank. Like those European concepts.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
