Hi, need some advices on how to differenate normal nana and nana petite. Went to a LFS looking for nana petite. Was shown a few pots with leaves as large as 3 to 4 cm across. Like to know what's the maximum size of the leaves of nan petite as those shown aint "petite" at all. Thanks.

The biggest leaf size for a nana "Petite" should be about a one-cent coin. That's what I have seen in my tanks so far.

The leaves on mine is the sixe of my pinky finger nail (5mm wide) some are smaller. So did I get a petite? I hear of other vars like "nana var nana", "nana var bonsai".

3 months in my low tech tank produced the biggest leaf at 8mm width.

The Anubias barteri var nana "Petite" is the only name for it. I only know bateri var nana but have never heard of "nana var nana" in my years of aquascaping. I think that's a nick given by local lfs or farms.

Nanas are already slow growing, much slower when they are in a low tech tank. You should know when they stay that size for a year.

The normal Anubias barteri var. nana can have very small ones that doesn't grow big at all if kept in shady areas of your tank... And they are a fraction of the cost of the real nana 'petite'... Anyway, the 'petite' variant is the Anubias barteri 'Bonsai'... Suspected to be originated from Cameroon...

var nana bonsai, check out Dennerle's A 21.3. Slightly bigger leaves than var nana "petite".

nana var nana, my apologies, mistook Green chapter's presentation which was barteri var nana, nana. I am only a newbie in water weeds.
