Hi, just a quick question to check anyone knows Tetra is a German company or Japanese company?

I saw this Tetra ExPower Filter 90 (as photo) and look very nice and sleek. Have a good, don't you agree! The design is so much better than Eheim filter of standard green. This product made in Japan and quality is very good after closely inspection. Solid and hard plastic. But I dare not buy yet and just want to hear some opinion here.

After a quick check on internet, the Tetra ExPower filter also offer some of the best functions around. Unfortunately I can not get much of user feedback from the English website but only a handful from Japan website. All postives and gave many stars for the performance.

Is this the new product launched in April 2005? would it be any better than Eheim products?

For full accessories (as photo) only selling less than S$160 in LFS, good buy?

I have been in biotope and saw the filter. They have also been using it for some time on their display tank. So far looks quite good. Quiet and efficient.
I haven't heard any complains from them yet.

Wah the tetra filter looks really nice. Frankly, it looks like R2D2. hahaha... If its from germany than i think the quality should be good. But as we all know, filter is a long term investment, the real test will be how long it will last??? My friend who has a hydor filter says that it spoiled after about 5 or 6 years. Although the hydor filter looks ok, has priming, quality - looks good and is priced reasonably compared to eheim but unfortunately it doesn't really last long.

I agree and real test it how long would they last! if it lasted at least 6 years should be okay. Even sometime Eheim needs to change the part justl like my small 2213.
This tetra filter make in Japan and its a quality stuff.
By the way, what is R2D2?

Thanks for user comment, all positive and that's great. I would get this tetra filter 90 and wait until next week aquarama show. May be they're there to give special offer?

Went to see it at aquarama today. waaahhh..... nothing beats seeing the real thing. The only thing i don't like is that like the hydor canister filter, the inlet/outlet tubes and the spray bars are transparent which means after some time it'll look unsightly due to the buildup of slug and algae. Using the green coloured tubes and spray bars won't make the slug so obvious. Which means you have to spend some more money if you're fussy. But the one that really make me drool is the Ehiem Pro 3!!!

Yup, seen the Ehiem Pro 3 demo during the show. Quite impressive, wasn' it. But one thing I don't like, the size is very big (of course meant for big tank) and also very expensive !! .

Why don't Eheim make a smaller version (i.e Eheim Pro 3 minor ?) with a little cheaper price tag so everyone can try it..

Tetra's design is one of the best and also Rena is also not too bad (with a good price) but still Eheim's the best. Other brands no comments.

Was wondering will it be an over-kill for my tank. (ie. cause a mini-tsunami in my tank) Thought of getting an Eheim Pro II 2026 for my 4ft Tank (240 litres) . Please advise? Thanks.

You need 2x2026 for your 4ft if you have extra cash.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
