Question: the bulb is planted in my tank but there is no leaves.... will it still grow or do I have to grow it above water first or is there no hope??Friend had it in the tank but the leaves got accidently cut off whilst doing maintanance...

it should survive
Make sure that it still gets plenty of light so that the new leaves can quickly produce food for the plant and accelerate growth. If it's current position is too shaded, uproot it and let it sit (unplanted) in a brightly lit area or let it float. Once it has a few leaves about 2 inches in diameter, you can replant it... but makes sure they can still get light.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
Thanks to the both of you who replied....
