Have anyone tried to keep normal garden plants & flower in the fish tank in-house and without the water but just normal garden soils?

I think it may look nice..Any comments?

I do have it. It's in my balcony with other potted plants and a planted tank.

I thought of doing some kind of paludarium initially but I just can't get the half-water half-land things going.

In the end, it's a tank with terrestial plants. I added some ferns, money plant, and a branchy driftwood.

Nice?Well, to each his own...but I really like it. Will post pics soon when they're ready.

    Wow, very very beautiful...

Did you drill some holes at the bottom to get ride the excess water?

Hey Terence, no problem on the pictures wise. In fact, i'm going to bring over all the setups that i've done be it vivarium, paludarium or terrarium. Thanks for helping me on this one though.

For this particular one Starflog, i didn't drill any holes on the base plane as i could still do future scapes with it should i want to have a change. Instead, there's gravel in there to act as a drainage. Watering is done via misting so as not to have too much water collected in the drainage area to prevent any unnecessary clogging as well as foul smell.

    Regards,
    Phillip.

    Wink

It seems like this kind of 'gardening' is easier than planted tank and least expensive too? Yet the overall effect can be as stunning and very delightful to watch !!

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Depending on the types of plants used, generally they're inexpensive and also allowing different usage and treatment of plants in a variety of manner. For both planted as well as vivarium tanks, both are equally challenging and also makes ideal "living art pieces" for your own pleasure and enjoyment.

    Regards,
    Phillip.

Here's a close-up pic of my failed attempt to have a paludarium. As I mentioned in the earlier post in this thread, I just can't get the water feature working despite some reading . In the end, it's just terrestial plants 'dumped' in the tank. The branchy driftwood was an attempt to add some natural touch to it.

And the second pic are the set-ups in my balcony (overall).
