there's actually no need to remove it
all it does is impede filter flow slightly, and even if you remove it it'll just come back (it's bacteria)

But if you are really particular about it , can get those wire brushes for cleaning the insides of hoses.
But they dont come cheap though.

my filter is infested with parasites. I wanted to clean and disinfect every part of the filter in case they come back. The hose make cleaning difficult.[]
Any cheaper ways to clean it without buying the expensive wire brushes? Tks.

how about pouring hot water through it, get a really big pot and boil the water with those portable heaters, boil already then sink the whole hose in, make sure no bubbles in the hose.

Maximus, eheim hose shouldnt cost too much. Perhaps you can get your required length for under 6$.

and i will go with the pull-thru method.
if u had been to army, had you seen the tube cleaner for the M203 before?

Get a long string, tie a piece of cotton cloth at one end securely.Make sure the cloth end fills up the hose nicely. Then pull thru the hose. clean the cloth and pull thru a few more times. But this method cannot remove those which had been there for super long (you need a brush for that)

so you weight for yourself if the effort is worth the saving

Is 12/16 the biggest size? I got mine (the biggest size one) at $5 per metre at C328!! I think for that price i can get a few metres of normal horse!!

The $5 per metre one is 16/22mm. Think there is a bigger one than that. Should be for the 2260.

Thanks everyone for all the inputs.
I'll have to try the pull-thru method. Never did that before in the army.

Hopefully pull-thru will work, if no choice then must buy new hose. My filter is eheim 2217 and astro 2212, should be quite costly to change both of them. []

    try this.
stuff toilet tissue into the hose.
    use a chopstick to help.
try to compact as much as possible the toilet tissue.
after every 2-3" of tissue add water to wet the tissue.
repeat until there is about 8-10" of tissue.

after that connect the hose to water tap.
may need to use other hose connect to tap.
put the other end into toilet bowl and put down the toilet seat.
turn on tap to max and hold tight the pipe conected to tap.

if you compacted the tissue enough, your hose should be clean.
    else repeat.

hi tawauboy, sounds like a pretty good idea. I'll try it during the weekends. Thanks.

DEA, the parasites are intestinal worms from my turtles. Got fed up keeping reptiles, damn troublesome and they **** like mad... []
I think I should convert all my tanks to planted tanks.
