    [QUOTE=wong1979]Didiplis Diandra

Wong, this DD picture shows alternate pair leaves, but lets not debate anymore about DD.

Base on my research, DD has alternate pair leaf. But mine is not DD as it do not have red flower at the node.

And Wong, there is no EMERSED plant here.
But Wong, you may be right, they could be Ludwigia.

Another reason I could think of is that it has sensed that water surface is near, and the lights are strong. And so it starts to develop emersed type leaf.

    Possible explanation.
My light is 13watt, 1 feet tank, with the plant reaching about 10cm below water surface.

What I meant by alternating is that, 2 leaves on each internode, alternating in direction. For DD, it has 4 leaves on each internode and if you look from the planar view, they run parallel.

As for Ludwigia brevipes, it has 2 leaves on each internode and they alternate in direction at every internode.

I hope this clarifies any misunderstandings Let's not start a war here

    BUT not totally correct.

I was told it is 'Didiplis Diandra'
    They are BOTH submersed form.

The Bottom portion is how it looked when I bought it from AQ (Submersed form)

The Top portion is how it turn up after I plant it into my newly changed substrate, China Brand (poise) bought from NA. It has same characteristic as ADA soil, <6GH, 0KH. Better as it contain fertiliser, and I don't need to put base fert below the substrate. Look at how fat the leaf turned into, how fertile is the soil!!!

Best of all, I tried NO CO2! and I can even grow Tonina!!! which no one thought it is possible without CO2!!!

That is the whole purpose of this post, Share info some new wonderful substrate that I tried and achieve superb result with no CO2!

    Hi Eric,
I have tried the China brand substrate with only light, intenal filter and fan for 2 weeks. No CO2, no fert, 2ft with 36W PL 6 hours/day. Plants are doing OK but growth are slow(maybe due to no CO2). PH ~6.2 KH 0. One thing I observed NO3 spike beyond 40ppm, could be inviting algae if too much light.

    Regards

I dont think a 1 feet tank is a good testimony of how good the substrate is... You can grow practically anything in a 1 feet tank...

Agree, but not for one whole tank of Tonina without CO2.
2month old, but all plant reduce to smaller size and grow slower.
