well, as advise by Simon I plunge a capsule just under the gravel. I don't think its a good idea to open the capsule. If those germans intended it to be opened they wouldn't have made it into a capsule. I think the capsule perform some slow release mechanism (over a week). However, having your fish wolf it down doesn't work either! [:]

Ok, good tips. I have been opening up the capsule and mix it into the water. some don't get dissolved and then when i pour the water in, my damn glutton SAE went on a spree to eat up the powder. I notice my SAE doesn't do any algae eating and instead, finishing up what i gave to my fish, thinking of giving up my SAE. if i need only a capsule a week for my tank, cos only 45litres. then where should i plunge it in the gravel? it won't be evenly distributed rite? so where to plunge the capsule? one week one different location?

Another question is, today i went to pet safari and said that i DIY my CO2 instead of getting dennerle bottles with immediate effect and i was told that DIY CO2 is not really effective. how true is it? is DIY CO2 reliable?

Ray, takes this from one who has gone through. DIY CO2 can be effective, depending on your plant needs and tank size. DIY is as good as any of those bottled stuff (actually they're the same thing, only price different [] )

So, if you think your DIY is not good enough, go for the pressure cylinder. Do not bother to replace DIY with bottled CO2, or even tablet for that matter.

ps: you are overfeeding your fish! Do not let your SAE get to eat any fish food!
