Big rimless would mean to say 4ft braceless and rimless tanks.

How reliable are they in the long term say above 3 yrs? I have already heard of curve tanks exploding, braced tank with falling centre braces. How lasting would this aesthetically appealing tanks do in the long haul?

It depend from who the tank came from. As far as I know, AquaTechnic is the only one available for braceless tank.
If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.

    Hello Gregorsamsa,

A good question that I pondered before getting my tank. It is hard to find a tank maker who thinks about requirements and at the same time the technical details in a manner that showed downstream concern beyond getting the $$$.

My tank is Braceless 122cm (L) x 61cm (W) x 76cm (H) or in inches 48 x 24 x 30, the extra 6 inches in height made all the difference in that the stress on the tank is considerably more. Glass is 15mm Asahi.

Here is a link that has some PDF files of what I went through:

What is the “long haul” is hard to define, and I cannot talk about that as my tank as it is still young, and should last like other tanks made well. However that said, there are signs of stress that can be seen eg bubbles in silicon expanding, bowed glass [although not with 15mm glass] or signs of transportation damage that one should recognize.
