APP stands for Ah Pek Plant, which is the Singaporean nickname for Elatine Triandra.
It's a foreground plant, thus good lights must be provided otherwise it'll start to grow upwards. It is also nitrate hungry, so provide lots of that in your ferts.
Hi all,
anyone got a pictures of the APP? I've got this plant in my tank that looks like the APP picture i saw on the web, but it's actually bunching up and growing upwards. mine's a 2ft planted, lots of moss and java ferns. got 1x36W and 2x13W.
this 'bunch' grows very very fast, have to trim every 2-3 weeks.
btw, i couldn't get a dc as my wife took it on overseas assignment

Hey, mine looks very similar to your pic from the top. but mines not growing on the base, they grow upwards instead. and they have a lot of sub branches, with roots hanging out along the outstretched branch. hee

Well, they do look similar to Hygrophila polysperma... And what you described sounds like the polysperma instead... I supposed as a foreground plant, this APP is supposed to have rather smallish leaves...
