    Hi,

What is the average configuration to setup my external filter. Example 1 layer of wool, 1 layer of carbon etc for a 2ft setup? I am using a Eheim 2217 external filter. Thanks

I have read about connecting the filter to a UV light / tube?
How does this work and the cost of it?

See my post here about canister filter media placement. Post #25.

As for the UV Filter, there are inlets and outlets for you to connect your hose. UV filters should be connected after the filter... i.e. tank -> filter -> UV filter -> tank. UV filters in general are not encouraged on a planted tank, because they are said to destroy some of the elements needed by plants.

Generally, UV filters are cylindrical, with a UV light tube in the middle. Water enters one end, gets sterilised by the UV light and then exits at the other end.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.
