I visit fish shops a few times a week. Farm only once every week or fortnight.

So it more convenient to buy from shops if I can't wait.

To the fish shops, simply because they're more accessible.

FLORENCE, capital of the region of Tuscany, has a population of around half a million inhabitants, spreads on the banks of the Arno, between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian seas, almost in the middle of the Italian peninsula. It is a city which bustles with industry and craft, commerce and culture, art and science.

I prefer fish farm if buying fish. Reason is because they do a better job of quarantine and overall health of the fish. On a few occasions, my tank got white spots if I put in fish from fish shops without quarantine.

For equipment and all else, of course get from fish shops.

Oh yah, if transport permits, farms will be the preference for livestocks!

I think Lorong Harlus/Pasir Ris is the most accessible by public transport. Lim Chu Kang, Murai Farmway, Jalan Kayu etc are almost impossible without your own sets of wheels.

If I need to buy tank accessories and fish food, it will definitely be fish shops. As for livestocks I have no preference, main things I'm looking for are the conditions of fish and plants in display tanks, the knowledge of shop owners and his attitude towards "difficult" customer like me, always ask but never buy.

    Hi,
Me same as benny, but I would give preference to the shop or farm that is cheap and has the most variety of fish, plants & equipment. Don't matter if I drive or not, It has never stopped me
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

    fish shop - not worth travelling all the way to farm unless u are doing a bulk purchase for a new tank setup, or just need to pass some time;

haha, normally go to the places with friendly owners and good prices. For bulk purchase, the farms are definitely better, e.g Seletar Farmway 2. But I like to go down to the lfs just to hang out and see what they have.

Having a kid means I got less time for the hobby, so buying from fish shops is the most time-efficient for me. Some of the farms are quite way out too, so by the time you calculate the fuel and time costs, it's not worth the savings.

I go to the farms if I have specific things (plants or fish) to buy and I know the farm has them... especially many varieties of plants in bulk.

Farm visit is interesting for the kid, but it's not something you can do frequently.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:

From my experience, farms offer better prices for livestocks, but shops offer greater choices and prices for equipment!

I'd love to visit the farms frequently but frankly speaking, prices are not that much different from the shops unless you buy in bulk. For those who prefer to buy small numbers of fishes (like myself), its best to buy from the shops.

Equipment-wise, nothing beats having a one-stop shop like C328 to get your equipment and other "barang-barang" from.

Other reasons like inaccessibility of the farms, which are usually located in spots where public transport like buses and MRT rarely goes to. Only option is getting a cab.. going there is easy.. but going back isn't. Unless you have a set of wheels, those farms at LCK and Sungei Tengah, with the exception of Qian Hu of course, are really very difficult to go to.
    Fish.. Simply Irresistable
    Back to Killies... slowly.
