    Hi experts,

I understand the brightness of Lighting tubes deteriorate over time, so on average when should we replace the tubes? I'm using a 4x40W PL on my 4 x 1.5 x 1.5, can't wait to change to 4 x 55w. I wonder if there's a 55w PL tube for my type in the first place

And can someone pls tell me the address of NA in thomson?

    Regards,
    Alvin Wong

    Address

    Herre it is:

    Blk 1 Thomson Rd #01-340 Balestier Hill Shopping Centre-Blk 1 Singapore 300001

You can call 6255 6051 to make enquiry and I'm sure they have 55W PL. As I've bought 2 sets of Maqnum II of 55W from NA.

    Mr Chan is the boss.

They say change every 6 months, and when you change do not change all of the light tubes together. Stagger the changes over the week, so that the sudden new light levels do not cause a imbalance and thus algae.

I bought $35 for each 1 x 55W(8000K) light set. If I'm not wrong it is around $8-9, I think.

Usually I use till the end of the life span.
If it gets dimmer, I just keep or swap them to tanks not needing that much brightness.

    How often to change tubes?
I don’t listen to no experts.
    I listen to my wallet!

    I have 3 tubes: 2 X 38 W, 1 x 30 W.

    Cost of a 38W = $38.
    Cost of 30 W = $5

I haven’t changed the 38 W tubes since Nov 2003 (1 ½ yrs), whereas the 30 W has been there for coming 9 mths (since my tiger lotus update).

All my plts – tiger lotus, Amazon swords, anubias, J. ferns, C. balansae – except E. tenellus, are all doing mighty well. In fact, everytime I pruned the A. swords and tiger lotus, I'd wished I never had them!
The less-than-robust growth of the tenellus is likely due to they being eclipsed by the tall and broad-leaf plts.

How often to change depends on what plts you have in there. If you do not have a lot of high light plts, 2 yrs I think is still not too late.
