nope. planted long time ago. was growing very well until it suddenly it turns yellow
Then obviously it's due to your stoppage of fertCheck all parameters... CO2 first, followed by NPK, then Ca and Mg, traces, then temp, and lastly lighting.
i have to confess, i can't be bothered to test for all these stuff
i just bum in 20~30ml of fert when i see this happening
Yellowing is often due to lack of iron.
i just planted some hc on my driftwood.. duno will it grow anot... it seem to be more ywllow then the ones i put on the ground... i duno how to add npk.. can i use those readily available nutrafin npk to fix the problem? or must i use separate dosing? i have them all but duno how to use.. thks if u can help.Originally Posted by |squee|
I will advise against planting them on driftwood as they are not "rhizome" or "tuber" plants like nana, java ferns or bolblitis.
Leaves turning yellow suggest to me that light might be a likely culprit if CO2 and nutrients are in abundance. Are your HC shaded by taller plants? If so, make sure they receive all the light.
If they are under full illumination, just dose your fertilizers according to the directions stipulated if you do not use test kits. If you are new to fertilizer dosing, then get those complete fertilizer like TMG, Tropica Master Growth or Dr Mallick's LGA, Lush Gro Aqua.
I only test my water parameters in the beginning. After that, I dose fertilizers and observe my plant growth accordingly. I am neutral to those specs since they only serve as a guide.
If you must plant HC on driftwood, then I suggest you leave them floating on the water surface. After they start to grow, tie them to driftwood or place them admist the moss. Usually, I do the latter since they need to have something to cling onto.
Cheers!
To add, there's no need to test for those elements!
For CO2, just increase bubble count day by day until you hit a maximum input where fishes are alright at any time of the day.
For the others, just ensure you're adding them in, in excess if possible. Deficeincies are no good, excess is alright.
thanks Bro Kadios and squee... As for light i am sure they are enough(5.5WPG) and not shaded.. As for CO2, i think i got quite a fair bit of it as i normally have so much lights so i balance that out with CO2.. all my plants including HC bubble like crazy, accept for those on the driftwood... maybe it should not be there in the first place.. thks for the advise thou..
if u guys dun plant the HC on driftwood where do u all plant it?
on meshes as lawn?
my HC on dw are alive now after i put in dennerle gold7, duno izzit the growth promoter or iron that helps... yeh...Originally Posted by poopoobud

If yes, how do you plant it, wat is ur tank condition, & wat substrate do u use...?
Have tried grow HC but failed, maybe bcoz my tank still too hot that day.
Now after adding fan, want to try again.
But someone told me not to use HC in planted tank coz it suppose to be emerse plant, so plant it under water is useless.
the guys who told you that HC is nt a planted tank plant is obviously not very well versed in the types of plants. HC is an aquatic plant but it may need some time to convert to submerged form from the emmersed one.

90 x 50 x 50 cm tank: Eheim 2217; ANS CO2 Solenoid with 60mm intense bazooka; Zetlight 6400; Teco 500 Chiller; Borneo Wild Steel inlet/outlet
Ferts: Dry Mixture/Dr Mallicks. Temp: 26 degrees Substrate: ADA Amazonia
i have lush HC in 1month... yeh! my tank have chiller at 25deg.. i'm using lapis gravel.. i put root monster before i plant them and now.. all thanks to denerrle gold 7 to help mi change them from emmersed to submerge fast by rooting and growing healthily... wah laH!!! LUSH hC at last...
HC need at least how much of lighting WPG for it to grow well ? I thinking to try it also.
i got 5.5 wpg.. i got another tank 3.5wpg, slower taller growth..

Anyone have luck grow HC more than 1 month...? What about the maintenance, any trouble...?
How long does HC need to adapt themselves in emmerse form...?
Root monster = A local Singaporean produt by Ocean Free, it's a substrate supplement.

for mi i am using plant hormones from my canadian cousin to trigger fast growth, it only took mi like 1week to change them... good stuff..
