Zoomed Turtle Clean 501. If I'm not wrong, this filter is roughly 6" x 6" x 3". It's recommended for aquariums up to 30 US gallons(roughly 113 litres). I'm quite tempted to buy one to try it out. Has anyone used this before?

I've found a place online that sells it for pretty cheap(USD$35 inclusive of shipping). I was thinking of getting it. After conversion, it doesn't work out that bad as compared to paying $100++ for an Eheim 2231/2232(plus I don't seem to be able to find the 2211 here). Guess I'll let you guys know how well it runs once I do get it and set it up(probably in a couple of weeks).

make sure it works for local voltage, if you need a transformer, then the price doesn't seem so nice does it.

That's a good point... How would I find out? Under technical info, it says Volts/Cycles: 110/60 Watts: 4W.

there you have it. singapore is 220 volts, the zoomed uses 110 volt, you need to buy a step down transformer.. (so that's +$40)

Try checking the manufacturer or other online shops for the 220/230/240 volts version. Most equipment should have both the 110V and 220V versions, if the manufacturer is serious about marketing it Internationally.

I just went to ZooMed's website... their filters/pumps look like the Eden (Italian brand) filters.

    http://www.zoomed.com/html/aquatic_pumps.php
    http://www.zoomed.com/html/filters.php (the filter is here)

I think ZooMed products can be found in Singapore, you can try emailing ZooMed for the Singapore distributor and see if they have already brought it in, or can bring it in with the next shipment. A mass order will certainly help convince them.

Once you find out, update us on the price. I'm tempted, but I already have an un-used 2231 sitting around. 30 (assuming US) gallons tank is about 60cmx45cmx45cm.

Think you could get the specs of the filter? Like the flow rate... which I realised is conspicuously missing.

Better pictures of the filter here, includes the piping and spray bar.

I am using the filter on my 38 l I live in USA, I think it is fit for tanks my size not for a 30 US gallon, it cleans the tank well and has been running for half a year now, no problems. Just takes a few minutes to prime itself.

The flowrate's pretty pitiful... 78gph, if I'm not wrong. I'm only interested in it for my 1 foot cube, I'm sure it'd be able to handle that with no problems.

turtlehead, what do you think of the filter? Are the parts well made and not cheap looking? Set-up was easy? Stuff like that...

Yes, the flowrate is really little, that's why I said it was fit for a 38 l. The parts are well constructed, can handle many drops and kicks . Do any of you want some pictures?

I think that's another filter you are talking about. It can't hang, it can only stay level with the tank.

They have an attachment available for the 501 filter that allows it to be hung from the aquarium.
I'm getting one sent over for free(just pay shipping) courtesy of Andy of www.turtlepimp.com. I was also looking online and a step down transformer will only cost me $12.50. So all in all, I'm expecting to pay... About $50 for the filter...?

    Ok guys, the filter's here.
The parts are not as well crafted as Eheim filters(but of course). The hoses are about 8mm and won't fit the smaller Eheim parts, so modifications to the inlets and outlets are going to be a slight pain. There are only 2 chambers to the filter - 1 for biological/chemical media and another for the sponge. The sponge looks like it can be easily replaced by cannibalising sponge filters that you can get at most of our local LFSs. 2 pieces were provided for the outlet. 1 standard rain bar and a transparent plastic piece(just to direct the flow) that kinda looks like a funnel that's been cut in half.
As of this post, I've only put it together and have not hooked it up yet. I'm still awaiting a step down transformer(the filter was sent to me by a friend(see one of the above posts) in America). Waiting for a friend to drop off the transformer(good for up to 80W). Cost? $14 for the transformer and $40 for the shipping - Total=SGD$54.
This filter will be used on a 1ft cube.
Will try and get some pics at the office and put them up a little later in the night.
