    It depends on the amount of light (the main driving factor behind rate of growth) and whether its a CO2 or non-CO2 tank. How much light do you have over your setup? How big is your tank in US gallons? How much did you dose by the way? Do you have moderate surface movement over the tank? CO2 24/7?

    hi,

    My LUSHGRO dosage of a 3l tank is as follow but most bros in the forum feels it is at the lower end - I think only rocketshrimp can fight w me ,of course competing on who has the minimum dosage;

    every alternate day - 3 drop of Micro;
    every 4 days - 1 syringe of AQUA.

    No water change since starting this dosage routine 2 months ago;
    Tank are desnely populated with mosses, xue hua, onion plants and java fern, with 20 tetra and 50 cherry/ malayan/ yamato shrimps.

    ever try to increase freq of micro dosage - but kanna thread algae, my guess is too much iron . So far no casualty on the shrimp with this dosage routine

    tango
    Adopt all unwanted neon & cardinal tetra

    Woah! Way too much light for a 12 gallon tank! Drop it down to 24-36w or so. Since there is surface movement with the fan movement, the likely culprit for killing the shrimps should be nutrient or CO2 overdose. By the way, did you do weekly water changes or fortnightly? How much did you change?

    I think Lusgro instructions did not state "daily". So I think you may have overdosed if you did that.

    There's some similar discussion at http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=13063
    And a link to an Excel sheet to check with the doses. Read up more on Estimative Index dosing by Tom Barr.

    i don't follow a strict regime... usually i change water when i feel like it or when i see algae is getting out of hand.. so on average i guess i'll be changing about 25% water fortnightly.. i've changed the lights down to 36w...

    You are another victim of Dr mallick's poor product instructions. Don't get me wrong, his stuff is wonderful. But someone along the marketing line is not doing a proper job. I follow the instructions for a weekly dosing...10ml to 100l of water, with additional dosing of kno3 and po4 over the week. Now I am wondering if that is correct.. . So far it works for me. (I just started recently anyway...so that is not saying alot.)...But you should do a WC(water change) I suggest weekly..if not, any excess of the ferts will accumulate and eventually reach a dangerous level.

    You should follow a regime of fertilising and water change.
    Waiting till algae appears is too late.
    Tom Barr's Estimative Index also recommends regular water change with regular dosing. Can do a search in Google on it.

    Thanks Goondoo...hmm...so much? *tapping fingers*

    How about the other end of the equation...does the level of NO3 drop to 0 in the week? Hence, will need another massive dose of LGA? Or does it drop in 2weeks, 4 weeks? I presume that the level of NO3 added with the amount of dosing is at that instant the water is mixed in with the LGA.
