    Ammonia....Poor plant growth

Grow plants well..focus on their needs. Do large water changes whenever you stir up the substrate.

High rate of O2 splitting from H2O during the photosynthesis period. Whenever you see a drop in the rate of pearling, always suspect the CO2 (if you use it) if you do the EI method. Make sure your plant biomass is high though..don't skimp on planting...make sure the entire substrate is covered with plants.

Where were the algae growing on?

Good plant growth could be plants growing at average - good rates. You can prevent algae by keeping more fast growing and nutrients hungry plants, dose your co2 and fertilizers as usual or a little more.

Most of the nutrients will be taken by the fast grower and the slow ones, will not get the aglae easily, but grow well too.

I tried antibiotics on a 6ft tank infested with BGA. There were also a lot of staghorn and black hair algae on the moss everything. But strangely, after the antibiotics treatment, all the algae were gone. The moss and ferns are growing very nicely now.

Fast growing genna too? To remove any algae, you gotta first manunally remove as much as possible la. Try to introduce like 10-20 dwarf pencilfish too, they work wonders.

Antibiotics is what doctor prescribe for you when down with sickness to do bad bacteria? I am not pro in this. But theoretically, it should only be useful on BGA since thats bacteria.

Medication is not long term, after removal with it, you should be watching the water parameters and your usual regime.
