The best tool for transferring fry is a turkey baster. But don't try to look for a turkey baster in Singapore. As far as I know, there are none available. The 3 basters I own came to me from the US of A. Eyedroppers, sold in pharmacies, can be used for catching fry too. The only drawback with an eyedropper is that you will have a lot more *fun* chasing the fry around.

If you are planning on buying a turkey baster from an online store, I would recommend you get the one with the angled tip.
Is there other choices if we cannot find eyedroppers? or ones that have large enough tips to catch the fry.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

Why do you want to transfer the fries in the first place?

Is it because they hatched in the planted tank? If so, can use a normal siphon to suck out as much fries as possible.

Andrew, there're a few turkey basters left at EcoCulture. Made of plastic with a rubber bulb. In absence of that, disposable plastic soup spoons and film canisters will also do.

Koah Fong, a siphon can sometimes damage delicate fry and the transfer is probably to a 'grow-out' tank.

I see. Thanks for the reminder.

I thought that when fries are large enough, can use a fine net to scoop them out.

Ecoculture has closed already, much to my regrets. Now Amiz is with Cichlid, which I have no idea where it is. I guess I have to make do with a spoon.

Another qn which is related to breeding : Can I make do w/o baby brine shrimps for the crucial first 3 weeks for killies fries?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

I have some dried food for fry which I bought it oversea. However, I have not try it yeah so I am not sure if it is suitable for new born fry. I will pass you some plus a starter kit of the microworm if you need. PM me if you need it.

    Regards,

It's ok, Mr Ong. I got liquidfry for the fries which are already 2-3 weeks old. Now they are on brine shrimp diet.

Yep, that's the method that I find works the best...as long as the tube is one of the larger size...like what usually comes with your gravel vac. Just syphon the little buggers (BUG-ers ) into something you can just pour into the tank you want them in.
