    I'm no scientist, but this is what I got from the net. Maybe useful for someone like me.

    "ppm is an abbreviation for parts per million



    This is equivalent to 1 mg of any substsance dissolved in 1 L of solution (1 mg/L).


    1 ml of water weighs 1 gm
    1000 ml of water weighs 1000 gm
    1000 ml = 1 L
    1 L = 1,000 gm
    1 L = 1,000,000 mg

    Therefore 1 mg in 1 L (1mg/L) = 1 mg in 1,000,000mg

    which is the same as 1 part (1 mg) per million (1,000,000 mg) - ppm"

    1 mg/L = 1 ppm
