    Hi bro,

Newbie here on chiller need help. Can I use 1/2hp chiller attached to 1200L/hr canister filter?

Some bro told me it the flowrate too weak than the water won't come out from chiller to the tank, it will freeze inside chiller...it that true?

    my tank is 4ft X 1.5ft X 2ft .....

Any bro out there use Sun Sun Chiller? any comments? which one you prefer "Resun" or "Sun Sun"?

    thks! welcome comments and advise....

No... flowrate too low will not cause water to freeze inside the chiller. It has a thermostat in the chiller. When the water in the chiller reaches the set temperature, it will cut off the chiller.

However, too low flowrate will cause the chiller to cut in and out too often. The water in the chiller gets chilled very fast and reaches the set temperature in a short time. When temperature is reached, it cuts off the chiller. However, very soon when warmer water from the tank enters the chiller, the chiller cuts in again. This repeats itself very frequently (probably a few minutes interval).

The recommended flowrate depend on the chiller design.

At least my chiller manual states a recommended flowrate.

I think the flowrate depends on the volume of water inside the chiller's chamber and the chilling capacity.

Increase your ventilation and you'll solve the rapid on-off-on-off problem. That's what I'm doing now with two 12mm fans
Oh, the rare old Whale, mid storm and gale. In his ocean home will be. A giant in might, where might is right. And King of the boundless sea.
