my ram stomach always round round, I dont know whether it's pregant, understand they tend to be egg eater. so it advisable to artificially raising the fry in the hatching container.

i seperated my pair into a hatchery tank..
somethign which i used to put my pregnant guppies..
together with it i placed a bunch of moss inside.. hopefully its possible for the female ram to lay her eggs on the moss.. hope to successfully breed the rams...
Rams will lay eggs on a flat piece of stone/wood/substrate.
They will exhibit territorial behavior prior to spawning. any fishes/shrimps that comes near the spawning area will be attacked and fend off.

BC's right. Rams don't lay eggs on the moss. They lay them on a flat surface like wood or stone or even a sponge filter. Both the male and female have to be present ie the female is not 'pregnant' with babies. The eggs are laid then the male comes after the female and fertilises the eggs.Originally Posted by FaRnieGuy
if there are other fish around then they will be attacked. Sometimes if it's the first batch or so of eggs the parents might eat them, but otherwise they are fairly good parents. However it's probably impossible to protect a whole swarm of fry so probably some of the fry will be eaten by the other fish. So if you're really serious about rearing them, probably best to put them in their own tank or hatch them yourself. If you do the latter you have to be fastidious about removing fungused eggs otherwise the whole lot will be destroyed by fungus.
