i wud recommend the JBJ digital thermometer bcz its probless, comes with an extra batt, affordable(less than $10) and i tink its rather accurate bcz its with 1 decimal point function(then again, i never really measure with a more precise thermometer b4 but the temp it states is realistic..
)
No offense or discrimination to BOYU brand which has the exact design and look of JBJ digital thermometer but when i compare them in water at same location of the tank, the latter indicates a lower temp(25-26C), on a hot sunny day, which i dun tink its possible cz i'm oni using a fan to cool the temp down.tats y i say JBJ gives me a more realistic temp. BOYU thermometer indicates a 1decimal point but it never works, its always at zero,rounded to the nearest whole number.
Nevertheless, its slightly cheaper over the JBJ thermometer but i wud recommend u to invest a little more for a more satisfying purchase!
(p.s i'm no spokesman for JBJ products only a review of the 2 brand of thermometer)![]()
they're really cheap at drsfostersmith.com
the number of decimal points just means the resolution. nothing to do with accuracy.Originally Posted by sonique
to check the accuracy, you'll need a calibrated thermometer.

I used to have a glass tube red-alcohol type, but always got knocked off by my previous luohan. Changed to a digital one with 1 decimal point display eversince, no regret - cos it provides a better indication of the minute fluctuations in water temp. Without it, you may wonder if your digital thermometer is actually working (of course, accuracy is a different matter)
I bought the Plan 5 one during aquarama 2005. It's probless too. Been using it pretty long, and it's still working.
bought a boyu brand used less than one month , the display gone kapu...
