Do you think a Atman 3335 with flowrate of 600L/H can drive the external reactor made by Mr Chan successfully?

    Shouldn't be a problem.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Shouldn't be much of a problem but it still depends on the length of the tube you are going to run it back to the tank. There will definitely be much loss in flowrate by placing it after the filter and the impact on the CO2 would be great if the filter clogs. Why are you changing the reactor you are previously using?

    Hey Peter,

That reactor is flawed... one fine day BBA started appearing and I sat down and thought: I should have made that out of clear PVC... so that I know when it starts clogging.

Well... my setup is now going on a ceramic diffusor, which is pretty ok, BBA under control. But I'm a fan of external stuff, since my 2ft doesn't allow much equipment (already I feel it looks cluttered with the filter I/Os)

Chan's reactor (if it works with my filter) would be great, or probably Tom Barr's external reactor but I can't find plans for it anywhere online. I've a feeling its for paid members only on his site.

Its not the reactor's fault really. Using inline method with the filter has its pros and cons as you can see. (pros: aesthetic reasons...cons: clogging issues and slow down of flowrates if you hook it up on the filter outlet.). I have used quite a lot of reactors and I must say Tom's reactors have a slight edge due to its ease of use and murphy's law ain't against you (check valves are likely to fail sometime down the road...back pressure in the gas line equals leaky leaky.). By the way, Tom's reactors are powered by individual powerheads (including the external which is not out yet but is only available to subscribers) and the venturi feature also needs the powerhead to work properly.

I see... well the reactor is now in my dusty cupboard and I'd really like to experiment further. With Tom's one for instance. If it really solves CO2 and keeps it that way for a long time I'm prepared to put up with the clutter.

The powerhead... I was at c328 a few days ago and I had difficulty finding one that outputs water from the bottom (ok, maybe there's no such thing). Peter, what have you used for a 2ft tank? Give me the flowrate can? Or the filter name and brand and model will be better

I'm using the DIY internal reactor... Well, it really depends on the pipe sizing really. I have one DIYed and joined via 16/22mm eheim plastic tubes to be hang on the back on the tank which quite a lot of powerheads can fit. With the external, CO2 is fed via the intake of the powerhead. Try getting powerheads rated 120-200gph.

Y not just convert a internal green reactor to a external 1? the water volume inside is much smaller then compared to the external reactor(water filter). Just get the Turbo reactor from and LFS, epoxy the center section. then use thread sealing tape(plumbers tape) to seal the 2 ends. After which use Binding tape to tape ard the sections so that it holds under pressure.

Good thing is this can be hidden behing yr tank.

I heard people say that atman filters flowrate will be lower after certain period of usage?
