Heosemys spinosa, I think your "jungle" is refering to national park or nature reserves if it was found in SG.

Can't rem the common name, think its Hingeback tortoise or something, quite commonly sold in LFS some years back... I know M'sia or Indonesia still have lotsa them... hmmm u found the little fella in which part of the reserves?

I agree with MrTree. From the looks of it, I'd say you guys have a juvie there... These guys loose the serrated edges as they get older. Do you have a plastron shot to confirm? I hope you guys did not remove it from it's surroundings...

This matured specimen was found in Bukit Timah..

Believe it or not, Singapore still has a greater biodiversity than perhaps the entire North American continent. It's partly a matter of keeping one's eyes open, and also to do with the maintaining of suitable habitats (e.g. Sungei Buloh, Central Reserves, mangroves, Labrador Park) where species can be found in abundance. The tragedy is that many people think there is nothing worth preserving here, and so care little should a coral reef or patch of forest (or possibly the Central Reserves should a N-S Expressway be built) is 'developed'.

Have a look at the sites in this page (http://www.wildsingapore.com/links.htm) to see the incredible variety of wildlife still existing in Singapore.

That's commendable!! I'm sure a lot of members here will appreciate that.

However, just a word of caution.. please be discrete. If you are caught by the park rangers for releasing anything into the wild, there's a huge fine. And if you tell them you were just putting it back were it belong, you get fined again for collecting it in the first place.
