Read that amazon swords can do quite well with hard alkaline water, bright lights, co2 and adding 1 teaspoon of salt per 10 galloon of water.

Anyone have any experience with this?

This is the link to that article

    Hi Just40fun,
I think the article is fish first and plants later in the priority of things. Salt is not good for plants as far as I know. I reckon the salt is probably for the fishes.

    Cheers,
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

In my experience, Amazon swords do do well in hard water, but 1 teaspoon of salt for 10 gallons is too much for the plant, i think. I had about 1 teaspoon for about 25 gallons for a month or so, and the Amazon did not grow too well. After some titration through water changes (KH remaining about 9-10 degrees because i use coral chip in my filter), the Amazon has become a giant (about 2 ft tall with leaves about 3-4 inches wide).

Thanks John, may I ask what is the pH, dKH and dGH of your tank? Love to have 2ft tall swords, just perfect for my tank, which is 2ft tall.

Ph about 7-7.5 with CO2 injection, dKH about 9-10. dGH not measured.
