Yup its Telmatherina ladigesi. They look similar to the signifer. I IDed those for uncle the last time I went down. Both are just as aggressive against smaller fishes. Very boisterous species. Note however that they don't like to be treated to sudden changes in water quality. Other than that, they are tough critters and will easily breed in the home aquarium.

Last shipment of hastatus was earlier today (Thursday 04/08/05). I took back 20 out of 30. Remaining 10 pieces are already booked by someone else, according to uncle that is.

    Info on Horadandia.. via Google:

http://www.aqua-terra-net.de/Hydro/Zucht/Horadandia.htm (in German, use the translation service from Google or Altavista).

Its alot more green in the shop, and just as green in my home aquarium. Very beautiful little fish. Someone told uncle they were just mere "longkang fish".

mine started out very green too, after a year in the tank they started to look really yellow. also depends on the lighting. maybe they need occassional sunning.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Hmm.. because the hastatus is slightly smaller than the pygmaeus when adult and that the black marking on the caudal peduncle gave this species its scientific name. Since it looks like a spear's tip, the describer named it as hastatus, therefore meaning spear-like. In short its common name should be spear-tailed cory.

I find both to be just as beautiful but the main difference lies in the fact that this species is only occasionally imported in since its not as easy to get to breed as the pygmaeus. The pygmaeus on the other hand is a very common species.

Anyway, to each his/her own. I like the hastatus anyway but its just a little more up the popularity scale against the pygmaeus in my own opinion.

I'm a member of Japan Livebearer Association and have many species such as Xiphophorus, Heterandria, Illyodon, Xenotoca and Xenophorus sp. What do you have to trade? Many of my fish came from Ivan Dibble, Tom Coletti, Harro Heironomius and Jim Langhammer. Also, there is Nemoto san and a few others who have beautiful guppies and mollies as well as Micropoecilia sp.

Right now is too hot to ship. September is best for shipping fish, plants and inverts. I can send with cool packs by express takyuubin (Fed Ex etc) no problem. Just need a list of what you want.

Also many of these fish can survive Tokyo winter conditions so, they are hardy at cooler temperatures. Is there a livebearer society in Singapore?

    Hi Ed,

There's only a Guppy Club in Singapore. No Livebearer Association yet. We're working on a Killifish Group and some of the killie guys do keep livebearers too. I've always liked the Girardinus metallicus.

If you have X. montezumae or nezahualcoyotl, that would be excellent!

Ed, you are making me drool already. there are a couple of chaps here that would be interested. We can organise a mass order to reduce shipping. what about import license, do you know?

Can you send me a list of thing you have available and the prices, then we can start on planning an order list. mail me at [email protected]
