    Hi,
I have a 4ft planted tank for about 2 years now, still new to this hobby.
I changed water every 2 weeks, never over-fed the fishes. I have about 30 cardinals, 30 Rummy nose, 8 SAE, some cherry shrimps.

Recently, I noticed that some of the Rummy nose and the Cardinals are behaving strange. They would rub themselves on the log wood or the bigger leaves of the crypts.

Is this the begining of White spots? I do not see any spots on their bodies.
How can I cure this? Is there any medication or water change procedures that I could follow?
I do not wish to cause my plants any harm, as the primary source of presentation in the tank are the plants.

    Please HELP!

    Ms

It can be the beginnning of it.

White spot is also known as ich. For me, I got a bottle of Mardel Coppersafe from local LFSes (Singapore), and dosed the whole tank for the instructed duration. No activated carbon, no isolation of fishes since ich affects the whole tank.

Raising the temperature also helps. Search around the net for info.

http://badmanstropicalfish.com/articles/article17.html is a good example, though there are many variations to how to cure the disease.

BTW, topic should be in "Fish Care"

    Thanks!
    I'll get a bottle asap.
Please share your experience, did you have any casulties?
Does it turn the water blue?

How long did the whole process take?

    Hi,
I got a bottle of Mardel coppersafe from Petmart and done the first dose. I think I might have under-dose my 4ft tank with 20ml.

The instruction says that this is good for 1 month. How offen must I perform the dosing?
Also, there is a statement on the bottle which says that it might be harmful to plants....should I continue?

Hmm maybe a UV light may help.

    Cheers,
