I have a pair of German Blue Rams that have just spawned.

I have them in a 20Long planted tank....just them and 3 otocinclus. They layed the eggs two nights ago and I have been watching to see what happens with them..whether or not they hatch....if the parents eat them or not....etc...

Well, I looked in there this afternoon and the eggs are gone....so, I'm wondering if they ate them or if they hatched and have wondered off or what. So I watch the parents to see what they do and I see the male race over to one of my fake logs when the female swam near it. I look in the log and HEY ! baby rams !!

It seems....dad had packed up the family and moved them into one of the logs ! I find that interesting because I have never seen any of my rams want to swim inside anything..and everything I have read about them online says they don't generally like caves....so I'm kind of surprised at the choice of residence ! Great idea BTW...lol.....

    Good Job Dad !

I'll try and get some pics if I can, but I don't think I'll be able to get a good one of the fry. They still have the yoke sac and I saw only 1 for sure, but I'm betting there's more in there.

This tank is sort of an experiment to see if the rams will raise them on thier own. So far so good !

    Here are some pics...

I used a flashlight to highlight the fry....makes for a lousy picture but you can see them in there...of course, I have no idea how many....

Here's a pic of dad standing guard at the entrance to his domicile...lol...good daddy !

Good luck! Captive bred Rams are notorious for not being very good parents till they tried a few times.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

    That's ok Vinz....

I've already raised one batch to adulthood....about 70+ fry so I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't work out. It's just an experiment of sorts to see how they'll do with it because I did have a pair raise their fry in a 5 gallon..until the filter got them...lol...they were doing a really good job of it too..ushering them around the tank and letting them out to play, then putting them to bed at night....lol.

Had fun observing them...though I still had some left from another batch so I wasn't being especially careful with that lot...hence the filter mishap...but we'll see how these do.

    Thanks for the responce !
