    Hi Mecedesfish,
Welcome to the club, my 2 cents:
1)no sump, supposedly alot of O2 generated from trickle. That you don't want for plants.
2)Chiller is good if not fan also can.
    3)Please...clear silicon
4)10mm glass thickness would be good.
5)Shops that are mentioned often in this forum generally have decent pricing. If not, the market place is also good for hunting.

    Hope the info is useful,enjoy.

You may want to increase the width to 2 feet instead. Offers more depth

    Hi Mecedesfish,
Personally, I prefer clear silicon to black because I view the aquarium as an extension of the underwaterscape i'm doing and not an enclosure. Besides look at a friend's aquarium with black silicon, if you like it then why not? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But seriously look at some of the brethen's tank here, I think most are clear silicon.

I think the chiller is antartica or teco/heco or something like that.(don't think they are american also but more reputable)

For lightings, you must first determine what flora or scapes you want man, crypts, moss, ferns generally don't need that much light. Anyway, FL, PL or MH all will do but what is your budget? and requirement.

Start easy bro, they are so many things to learn and buy and upgrade along the way. So much funner that way. Don't just use this or buy that just because someone said so, find out for yourself and along the way you will learn invaluable lessons.

    Enjoy

    Michael I think you mean

    TECO (Italian made) and
Arctica (US brand I think but most likely OEM in Korea)-> suppose to be the best
Daeil (supposed to be the OEM for Arctica)

A lot of the LFS are selling these chillers particularly the marine shops

    Thanks mozes for the correction

Mecedesfish, I think with what you have now is more than enough for ferns & moss. You might wanna get some tall plants behind them to give them some shade. Some big swords or tape grass would be nice.

Personally I am not using the big brands, too expensive for me, those chillers are usually more than 1K. So not really in a good position to comment, but it seems that most ppl agreed that arctica is the best (and the most expensive)

I just got a china brand Resun... less than $500
    Just don't have the budget

Yes, thinking to get this Resun but some friend comment that in term for electricity and long lasting (sound and cut off ). It is better to have other brand than ROC,

What is the model if you would recommend for Resun? How abt spare part, prices and would it fix into a 4x2x2 cabinet?

Any friends in this forum using arctica chiller pls give your views

    Thanks

I am using a 1/4 HP Artica. When it is in operation, not very noticable sound emmitted. The hot air is rather hot even 2 meters away. So, I wouldn't recommend having any chiller built in the cabinet. I have kept it outside for better ventilation.
