i have never seen any bubbles coming out from my java moss?
mind sharing under what kind of condition will they bubble?
BTW, my moss is growing pretty well i guss, as i can see little light green tips everywhere.

Sure, moss produces bubbles too. Every plant produce bubbles.. it's usually on the underside of their leaves in really good conditions.
If you don't add substrate in a moss tank, yes they'll depend on liquid fert. In the first place moss doesn't root well to substrate, so substrate fertiliser for a pure moss tank is really uncessary![]()

Mmm…I guess under good light?
And enough CO2?
I still don’t know if I had enough CO2 in my tank, but light should be OK for java moss, right now I have almost 3 WPG.
But temp still 29.5 C these days, haven’t add any fans yet.
And today I notice that another plant (“hottonia inflata” if I’m not mistaken, the one which like little lotus, round green leaves) produces bubbles too.
I wonder if these bubbles only means that the plants get enough lights?
Because I’ve had my plants under the sun once, when I re-setup my tank, they (especially riccia fluitans) produce a lot of bubbles.

IMHO, plants bubble only because the water is saturated with gases*, and because of this oxygen produced by the plants cannot dissolve into the water anymore, thus the oxygen collects under the leaves and start forming bubbles, after which these bubbles float to the top.
*These gases are mainly CO2, oxygen, blah blah. I'm no scientist though.
My moss bubbled only at the end of the day, a few hours before lights off. Why is that? Because it takes time for your entire tank to be saturated with dissolved gases. Of course, other factors like ferts, lights, temp play a part too. Photosynthesizing plants and gas-saturated water gets you bubbles.
Note that no bubbles doesn't mean no growth. I have a low-tech tank that's growing slowly by no bubbles are formed yet there's minimal algae.
Ronig, if there are light green tips everywhere, congrats. If you really want to see the moss bubble, slowly increase your CO2 till you get bubbling in the evenings.
