Anyone found another alternative to the eheim duble tap valve? I went ard hardware shops but they only got the copper type, did anyone found a cheaper alternative?

If not, where to get the double tap cheapest? I saw at C328 selling $17.5

    Cheers

With a double tap, you can close both taps and disconnect the pipes easily, with no water leakage.

I set them on my rubber hoses so that I can remove the hose for cleaning without having to disconnect my outlet pipes the accessories like CO2 reactors, rain bar, etc.

Mainly for convenience... uses up to your imagination. ;p

i cannot visualise how to join 2 brass taps together and make it seal!

    i recommend against it

there is a possibility of leaks from the joining of the eheim tubes and the brass tubes (if they can fit)
even normal for plumbing work using parts of standard sizes, the joints will still need extra sealing.

so if you try to fit 2 parts which are not really meant to be joined to each other together....risky
and if the thing drops out in the middle of the night, your filter will drain water out of your tank but never return [:]

    get the original
it will last you almost forever and saves you all the headaches and worries

what i did was to get 2 valves, connect them with the ehiem hose... while it is cheap.. lets not forget that it is heavy and IMO, might run the risk of copper-oxide leaking into the tank???

What I did is that I use the white colour floss used for household taps to seal the leaks, will it be ok? Will it harm the fishes?
