forest halfbeak is a different species from the pygmy.
Question:
Are forest halfbeaks suitable tankmates with tiny shrimps?
Edit: Forget I asked. Just found them to be carnivorous from this website: http://www.ecologyasia.com/verts/fre...y-halfbeak.htm
And they are called Pygmy halfbeak (Dermogenys pusillus).
BTW what happened to the Gallery of pictures from the old forum? Don't seem to be able to find them now. End Edit

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Ya, thanks, Choy. I realised my mistake in initial ID from the position of the dorsals and the dangly lower beak. And it is less colourful -- didn't bring my reading glasses to the LFSOriginally Posted by hwchoy

Interesting how it slashes its food with its beak even when feeding on monia. It's feeds like a minature version of the larger billfishes like Marlins and Sailfishes.
