Hi
Think you should move the echinodorus to position B. It will grow too large and cover your drift wood. Plant some crypts instead.
YOu can cover only the base of the DW with moss.
My 5 cents worth
Hi All
I am in the process of re-do my scaping. Would need some advise to improve the placement of the one of plant as i think it is currently looking kind of odd
The Crinum calamistranom (sotong plant) is current hidden behind the wood on the right side at the back
Question1:
Anyone can advise if the Crinum calamistranom (sotong plant) would look better if it is shifted to either postion A, B or C ?
Question2:
Do you thing it look better if i covered the wood with xmas moss ?
I kind of like the texture and shape of the wood, but also like the look of moss. So cannot decide if I should add the moss to the wood
Any advise from the experts in the forum much much appreciated
Thanks in advance

There can only be ONE
Are you planning on filling up the wood area with plants? If not, then go for moss.
The echin and crinum should be right at the back, with the grassy plants planted around the driftwood and you need more more more more plants.
Decide on a shape of the scape. Triangle? Mound? Inverted mound? Concave? Convex?
You can certainly use X'mas moss. Don't tie it all over the driftwood just tie 2 inch patches a couple of inches from the tips of the driftwood. Space them out so that when they've grown out they look nice.
Should put more soil at the back to create slope. I'd put more rocks with moss at the base of the d/wood. These rocks would help you keep slope.
The echinodorus would be better behind the d/wood somewhere near the centre beside 'c'.
I'd put the C. calamistratum beside it.
You can if you dare to fail - Stan Chung
nice looking wood u have there..where do u get them..??
i'll leave the wood as it is, if i were u..
and plant heavily around the wood..echinodorous at position 'B'..
Hi All,
Thanks for all the advise. Will review and see how I can make adjustments to it. Forgot to post the specs of the tank 2.5ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft, so that there is a size perspective to it
Echino
Most people advise to move the Echino to position B, may not be so apparent in the photo, but the position B is quite a small space ... (will try to take a side profile picture ). The enchino in the current position has a 20cm x 20cm area to grow ... postion B probably be about a 10cm x 10cm space
I know is it not conventional scaping principles ..but was thinking of placing the echino infront of the wood ...and working on making it the focal point ... instead of partially hiding it behind the wood ..
Not sure, but try it out ?? comments ? comments ?
Crinum
Agree that the crinum should stay in the back ... will move it to position C behind the wood
Also agree that the current tank is too bare ... much more plants are needed
Back Left
I have the rotala nanjean in the left side at the back ... hopefully it looks better when it grows up taller than the wood and become more dense. Was hoping that it provides a fresh green background ...with the "black" wood and red echino as contrast
Back Middle/right
There are some bolbitis in the middle at the back ... they are currently too small and hidden by the wood ... seems to be starting to grow a bit ... think they may overrun the wood .... saw that these guys can grow really huge
Foreground
The left foreground is currently bare ..using lilaeposis but I dont think they spread that fast ... maybe will look for something to fill in that area
Well unless I make drastic moves like removing a one part of the drift wood ... finding it difficult to move them around due to the same space constraints. Maybe the wood is too big ... but wife says that buys already cannot dont use ... waste money ... so i guess that is another aquascaping principle to strictly follow :>
Well ... we work within our finite resources ... dont have infinite driftwood sizes and variety like amano :>
Hi Sonique
Got the wood at ecoculture at macpherson
Any suggestions on what to plant around the wood ?
Trying my best to keep the look a bit more natural than to buy everything nice I see.
I know the anabuis are the usual for such a scape ... failed the wife factor again as it looks too boring ..haha
