Bubble counter enable you to know the amount of CO2 that you injected into your tank based on the bubble rate.
But you still need to use test kits to determine the right CO2 level.
However, once the right CO2 level is determined, you may not need to have a bubble counter.

But you can still use it to monitor the amount of CO2 injected. As you may not know what may happen. Take for example there may be leakage in the tubing, manual regulator faulty........

    Thanks.

Should i turn the CO2 cyclinder valve fully open?
or should I just turn it slightly till there is CO2 coming out.
How should i use the knob on the regulator?

You have to turn the cylinder valve before CO2 can flow out, right?
For me I turn less than one round at the valve. As long as bubbles are coming out as expected, should be fine.

you can turn the main valve on the cylinder by 1/4 to 1/2 turn. this will be sufficient. note that there is no fixed position that you must follow.

as for the knob on the regulator...
do you have a picture of your regulator?

it is to my belief that the best is to use bubble counter, its rather cheap, 5 bucks can get you one alrdy, yup. If not its rather hard to gauge as if you leave co2 too long you need water to circulate, then after circulation once ph drop too much, critters all gone. Save all that hassle and get a bubble counter

I agree very much. The bubble counter provides you with a visual gauge, so it makes it easy for you to slowly increase CO2 addition. (but of course doesn't mean how much CO2 you put in = how much CO2 stays in the tank)
