    Hi guys,

I used to keep this species of apistogramma and it was quite a blast. The male that I had used to flare at just about anything. I suspect that it had really bad eyesight. Unfortunately, have seen much of these in the shops lately.

Anyway, just saw this new article on Cichlid Forum and thought it's an easy read.

    Apistogramma trifasciata by Don Kinyon

    Check it out!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I agree that these fishes are beautiful. However I am a newbi in keeping Apistogramma fish. Last time I used to keep some of these fish but they won't live long. They are expensive too. Does anyone have good experience can share.

    Ap Trifasciata

They are not very difficult to keep. We usually stock them in our tanks along with ADA soil and they will start to breed. Quite nice little fish to look at.

Keeping apistogramma is as easy as 123. To get them into breeding condition, you may want to consult the guys at biotope, they are good at it.

Thanks for the advise. I am thinking of keeping these beautiful fish again. Will soon visit Toh farm and Biotope (by the way where is biotope?). Also what are the tankmates good for this fish?

Apisto I saw at Biotope mostly cost around $100/pair. Are Apisto all so expensive? Got cheaper version one (not the pirated one)?

Trifasciata are great fish... they were my first pair of apisto. They spawned a week after I got them. I got my pair from Toh's farm, which has them quite cheap. It's a pity I just lost my female from that pair for some unknown reason, hoping to get another to repalce her. Biotope and Kingfisher have them in stock now. They are one of the easy apistos, don't need to worry too much about them.

    Hi Cacatuoides,
Just curious, where did you get your pair of Tri from?
Coz, according to records, this fish is not found in Peru.
Largely occurs in Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay.

Would be nice if you have lobang to bring Brazil Apistos via Peru.
    I want too!

Benny, I'm a trifasciata fan and have always kept them every now and then when I switch to apistos on and off.

Images of my previous breeding pair. The male had a red dorsal which doesn't appear in the image. He was very shy.
