Actually, a better word of caution:

    Don't look at apisto. Period.

Otherwise, big big hole in pocket.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Cheers,
Only if you got premium quality imported specimens. For myself I'll settle for those at Toh's. Just as nice and healthy. No big hole in the pocket too!

I don't believe in tormenting myself. If I see, I want, I will surely get. So best not to see. Don't show me. I cannot resist temptation.

A.blutkehl is another morph of A.uapesi.
also known as rotkeil. Uapesi itself in one brood can have all this combination in their fries.

I have bred a pair of a.uapesi rotkeil and 50% of their youngs turns to be rotkeil(redtail),30% bluthkeil (blood throat) and the balance plain uapesi.

They are in deed one of my favourites. Will definately acquire them if they become available in our market.

Price wise, yes they are expensive. and like the others have warned ... apisto is the dark side...so be warned heheheheh

here is my photos of my A.uapesi rotkeil

    Hi Rashid,

Indeed Apisto is the dark side. Currently trying to set up one for my incoming apisto

Any chance of advise of their set up? Are you using ADA soil ?

Rashid! You terrible man! You know apisto is the dark side and you still tempt poor Nicholas.

If you bombard him with solid pictures of apistos, he may just sucumb and end with tanks and tanks of them!

The question is...Can Nicholas resist the temptation of these South American beauties!

    Stay tuned!

    Cheers,

*evil benny now go looks for apisto pictures on the web to prepare for the onslaught*

ADA Soil is not a must but it's good to have. I am using both ADA and also Denerle quartz for my apisto setup and both give me same results but of course with denerle you have to wait a lill longer b4 the ph lowers down. for all my apisto setup I maintain at ph 5 on average and some even lower depending on the species.

I prefer Denerle, although expensive, bcos its easier to maintain them and wont cloud the water easily whenever you do a water change(which I seldom do).

If you wanna breed them then a lower ph will do good if not just keep them at a ph slightly acidic to neutral..

I am only attracted to apistos with slender slim body namely from the pertensis group. And believe me this group of apistos are quite rare in Singapore and when they do come, they do cost a bomb...

Nicholas, I haven't thought about it yet but I have some images of beautiful fishes, not necessarily apistos, to tempt Benny with. HAHAHAH!!

Then again, apistos themselves are a beautiful bunch of fishes. Only thing is that they're available on a seasonal basis and when they do arrive, the price can turn off some hobbyists. For myself I'm happy with just the usual trifasciata and cacas.
