hi guys, yes, its me again. you all must be thinking why am i keep rescaping my 2ft tank.. reason was i tuned down from 2x36watt PL (4.5wpg) to only a 36watt (2.2wpg) since im going to sec 3 this coming 2008.
i would like to keep my tank a low maintaince moss tank ment for shrimps.
didnt want and didnt have the time to trim my toninas every week, dose ferts every day and WC 50% every single week..
this thread is my step by step journal.. didnt set up everything in a single day like my last 2 scape. but spent around 5 days to think and slowly set up. so that i dun have to rescape another time.
this will be my last scape for 2007. next rescape proberly will be after chinese new year. might upgrade to a chiller and take out my co2 set.
    heres my tank specs:
    size : 2x1x1.3ft
substrate : 9l ADA amazonia below and 2kg GeX red pack on top
    filteration : Ehiem 2213
    temperature: 25 - 27C (using 2 mercury thermometer)
    lighting : 1x36watt PL(2.2 - 2.5wpg)
    co2 : 1bps using ceramic diffusor
    ferts: None
flora: spikymoss(all wood) US fissiden, flame moss, marimo moss ball, eurio cenirium aka gu jing, red tiger lotus, japanese hair grass, HM and 1 unkown back ground plant.
fauna : 2oto, 2 Black diamond shrimps and 40 cherry shrimps.
    heres some photos.
    day 1:
drained out 100% of the water. filled the substrate with GeX Red pack 2kg on top of ADA soil. and sloped it to the back. with my usual wood as hardscape.
sorry for the dirty tank wall

day 2 - 4 are just simply busy tieing all the us fissiden on mesh(front 5) and flame moss(back 4) and spiky moss(back ground 3) after that. bought a few more skinny driftwood and tied with spiky moss.

    day 5:
adding all other plants. at first was wanting only moss tank. but i find that it will look better to have some stem plants, also added some rocks i bought from NA today.
    looks kinda weird...

    Right side:

    left side:

    thats all for now..
hope my tank will be succesful this time.. anyway. so far first few days had passed.. no algae attack yet.. starting to love low lighting tank already!
    thanks for viewing!

    hi guys, heres an update
full tank shot. like what some bros adviced. to have a bare foreground to show the shrimp's real beauty. and so i clear the foreground and i really like it!
tied some freshwater seaweed on 4 charcoal bamboo one of them still floating.. need to wait for a day.

my Red tiger lotus.. 10th leaves coming out. and its still short

one of my 2 gu jing. survived after all its leaves turn yellowed
can see middle part got new leaves growing out

my big mama and my CRS.. see the size difference! 1.8 - 2cm vs 1cm. and the big mama got pregnant today!

the shrimps really love the charcoal bamboo.. placed their food near the front glass tank wall.. and you can see, they shifted to near the bamboo.. now they are eating inside the charcoal bamboo

us fissiden growing out new fronds after 1week..
weird.. my us fissiden only grow out new fronds after 2week in my 4wpg tank..seems like lower lighting let them grow faster..

cherry group shot.. too bad crs still shy to join the cherry for a feast..

    thats all for now

Hi there, can't help but noticed that you mentioned that you are going to sec 3 come 2008. Meaning that you shd be 14+ years old this year?

    If so, then WOW!!!

I must say that I'm super impressed that someone for your age possesses so much planted tank knowledge. I think I was still playing catching when I was 14 years old. kekekeke.. Anyway, thumbs up for the tanks that you have shown here. I've indeed learn much from you.

Btw, I'm more than twice your age if you're 14.

Coming from the teaching profession, I must say not many 14 year olds are so into aqua-landscaping or shrimp keeping. Most are over-infected by PSP and lan gaming.

It's always nice and refreshing so see someone so young trying his hand on a hobby like this - and to do it well at the same time. For me this is more than a hobby, it involves knowledge application, great deal of discernment and good decision making skills. Double thumbs up again!

Your parents must also be thanked for their support for this hobby of yours.
