Initially spotted few of my yamatoes pregnant (abt 3) abt 1-2mths back. til now still spot them carrying eggs on them.

observed the eggs change color, from yellowish to pale black. Wonder how long it takes for them to hatch?! having rummy nose in my tank. how the moss provide sufficient hidding space for them to survive

I think as long as there are no fishes in the tank, any type of tank, planted or empty, can breed shrimps. Shrimplets may need special food and I'm not so sure myself. Can ask around LFS for baby shrimp food. I think is called liquidfry.

Yamato shrimplets need brackish water to survive. You might have some success if you keep the shrimplets in a separate tank.

There was an article posted in the internet before. Perhaps you can do a search on the internet? Good luck!

    Hi Nicholas,

Can you share with us what kind of shrimps are not breedable? Then how did they come about in the first place? Or do you actually mean difficult to breed in captivity? Thanks!

Hmm... I also have yamatoes carrying eggs now along with 4-5 red-nose shrimps. I caught 2 about 2 weeks back and placed them in a small tank. The eggs hatched and until now still can see them surviving. Dunno wat to feed tho, so place the tank under pl light with a fan. Need to catch my yamatoes out soon tho... about to be 1 week, which i think is their hatching period. Looks cute when they are 'fanning' the eggs. Looks like as if they r kicking themselves in the butt. Oh yah, do u have male yamatoes in the tank? If not, maybe that's y the eggs r not hatching
