Float plant - use

Hi,

Got a few questions on the use of Float Plant .
First thanks to David for the Float plant.

1. Think from book, float plant can be used to remove certain metal in the water. What is those metals?

2. What then is the impact to the water condition? After putting float plant into tank, observed that water is a bit cloudy for a half day, then get a bit better

3. How to prevent them from moving around the water surface as there is current from the filter

4. Is it beautiful to see those root floating from below the water level?

Here are your answers.

1. Floating plants in particular waterhyacinth can remove large quanitties of heavy metals such as copper, iron, zinc, lead, nickle, chromium, cadmium etc.

2. They help to purify water. It shouldn't get cloudy unless u did not wash the roots before putting into your tank.

3. U can move them near the driftwood (covered with java moss). Larger plants like waterhyacinth and water lettuce roots will be entangled with java moss on the woods. Duckweed can be rendered motionless by placing netting across the tank.

4. Yes, they look good to me and my fish love swimming among the roots.
