Hi bros, i intend to use very dark (maybe black or brown) substrate as base and top with very light (coral sand maybe?) substrate for a new PLANTED SHRIMP tank. Is this combination very weird?

Very indeed. But the weirdness will only occur along the substrate line, against the wall of your tank. What you can do is lay the black substrate down but make sure it doesn't touch the sides of the tank, then lay the wihte sand.

Why do you want to do that in the first place? Just using the light substrate is adequate.
