Seems like algae is growing slower than expected on my other plants other than HG. My shrimps somehow dun like HG and seldom see them eat the hair algae that's growing on the HG.
Why don't you sit on this?! ..|..

What's the size of the tank and what kind and how many shrimps? In general I wouldn't worry too much, in fact I would be happy if there's little or no algae

If you are into breeding shrimps eg cherry shrimps; having lots of moss would help micro organism to thrive, the shrimps will feed on these.

My tank is 4 ft. I threw in 12 yamatoes, 10 mosquito, 6 malayan, 6 tiger shrimps. I think some may have died. Anyway, some yamatoes swim around the whole tank some time of the day and 1 or 2 just stand around at the filter clips, so I figured out they may be hungry based on previous forum postings. Using 4 x 55W PL light and 2 x 30W fluoro light.

Actually I find the best way to introduce micro-organisms into a tank would be to first make sure there's no salt in the water. Then throw in a bag of tubifex, water and all. In a few hours you first'll be swimming in bacteria soup. And that's a good thing if you've got filterfeeders in your tank.

why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

True, but it works! The proof being my woodshrimp are twice as big as they were when I first got them Besides, the smell goes away once the ammonia turns into nitrate
