nobody knows?![]()
If I'm not wrong, they're not allowed as pets under AVA rules. I might be wrong since I still see some newts for sale.

however, it looks really funny when it's eating (it pushes the worms into its big mouth with its front legs)![]()
Ermm... Tot Stormhawk already warned you that the frog is a ferocious predator?... Please do not release this animal to our surroundings if you do not like it... Return to the shop. Else do take good care of it... It can look rather cute...![]()

(one difference between them is that the ADF has webbed front legs while the ACF dun)
Ah, okay I forgot about Hymenochirus boettgeri. However, what we normally get in the stores is Xenopus laevis. True enough the boettgeri is the smaller of the two species and more docile. Eats FBW.
On that note however, I'm not sure if its allowed as a pet but if you got your hands on one, good for you.

I've had no problems with rabbit breeding (technical term? heh) with my dwarf frogs. To verify it's a dwarf and not a baby clawed (very similar) do as mdm said and check for webbing on the front feet. If it's webbed, it's a dwarf. Not illegal as the true african clawed frog AFAIK. That would be here in the states. The LFS I work in keeps a regular stock of close to 30 of these. Obscenely popular, though hard to convince people they eat FBW and not those blasted cheap sinking pellets.
Never seen one of these frogs touch those...But they will guard any BW chunk with their lives and they tear up and devour the whole thing! Makes feeding smaller fish (like my Carinotetraodon travancoricus) tricky, as the frog can get somewhat aggressive and guarded when food is present, sitting right on top of the food and charging any other critter that gets too close, but overly peaceful otherwise.
Had to start dropping smaller pieces of food in multiple spots to keep this from getting violent...
RTanger, I take it that you're from the USA?
In Singapore, most species of herptiles are not allowed under our current laws and in this case, even the dwarf frogs might be listed under the banned species.

Yeah. Sorry I kind of halfway mentioned that, sorry if it went unnoticed...
