Get a puffer fish or horseface loach to consume them. The flaw with this method is having to take care of the puffer/loach after it's done it's job.
If it really really bothers you, it's best to tear down the tank and restart. That's what I did.
hey bros...
I have kept a small planted tank, 30cm by 20cm by 20cm.... Have 34 juvenile guppies and 2 adults inside...
The problem is that the tank is infested with snails... I tried killing them but more kept spawning... any natural way of making sure all, if not most, will die off...
Thanks

alright bro... thanks
But beware, puffer will nip your guppies tail or even makan those juveniles.
I think the horseface loach will be a better option, unless you are willing to take out the guppies and let the puffer do the job for a few days.
yeah... i dont mind takin out the guppies... how many days are we lookin at....
Can try Badis .. not the scarlet badis..

No problem fren. Just get the dwarf puffer. Don't worry about your juvenile guppies. It takes me 1 week to clear my super infested snail tank - 4x2x2ft using 2 puffers. Actually snails don't totally removed but hardly can find 1 after a week. Had to donate away the puffers coz I don't want to starve them. None of my 50++ cardinal tetras fins got nip. I find that they love hunting for snails.
Dwarf puffer
But after 2 weeks tanks infested with snails again. Bought 2 again and 1 week no more snails. After months now had to remove 1 (donate to a fren). I know they r hungry becoz they feed on frozen bloodworm I gave for my other fishes. Within 24hrs my fren observed a lot less snails in his tank. So go figure!
thanks for the advice bros... plan to move to a bigger 2ft tank sometime in the future... i also made some major changes to my tank... moved all snails to one container for them to breed so that after puffer whipped out the snail in my planted, can survive in that container full of snails till i find a way to keep them with other fish or i donate to another guy... if any of u wanna give or sell me a puffer, please sms me at 90281024.... thanks
How is the tank now?

anyone.........
55W should be alright. Use your instincts, if it looks like plants are getting too much light, reduce it.
i think its too mcuh cause i only have limited plants... but after 2weeks will be converting to 2ft planted so as to accomendate all my juv guppies...
Well... been looking around for people with snail problems... I would GLADLY take the snails from anyone... just collect them and pass to me... especially the big ones...
I need the snails for feeding my puffer fishes... Thanks.

I've kept a ghost knife fish to do the job before. It doesn't clear them out totally, but I like having snails around. My friend is keeping a clown loach to clear snails too. Does a pretty decent job.
Personally, I LOVE snails. When they are breeding and kicking, I know my tank is in balance. The plants are healthy and no need for me to prune the dead leaves.

Personal experience:
If you have fishes with excellent finnage like Apisto, I will advise not to use puffer fish to keep snails population in check..
I strongly recommend Zebra Loach - Botia striata. This fella is not like your clown loach, it will not dig out plants, chase other smaller tetras and will not hide so much.
Keep in a group of five. Its very nice. And the great thing is......they love snails till no end.

will the Zebra loach nip at shrimps?
I've got Cherries and Yamatos...

Yes. Any thing that is small, tasty, & fits their mouth.. fish will eat.Originally Posted by mr_moon
