Maybe try a moss foreground. Tennlius might be able
hi,
anybody can suggest any easy to grow foreground plant that DO NOT need base fert, cos my substrate does not contain base fert, and it's pretty shallow, like 1-2 inch at the foreground...
my tank has roughly 2WPG with co2 injection...

Hairgrass is a hardy plant... Little maintenance other than doses of liquid iron fert for them to not turn brown at the top edges. Gives a nice carpet look to the foreground and a good nesting place for shrimplets.
Why don't you sit on this?! ..|..
HG is appropriate as they don't need very deep substrates. But give it enough light to thrive.

E.tenellus would be good... They are smaller and shorter than the chain swords... Try to find the dwarf hairgrass if you want to try hairgrass... Not sure if APP will do well without basefert... They are doing well floating in my tank! Or try moss or pelia... They look good and they dun float even if you dun tie them down...

I'm crypt collecting... Starting cheap, now have Cryptocoryne beckettii, C.beckettii var petchii, C.crispatula var.balansae, C.griffithii(Melted! ), C.nurii, C.parva, C.pygmaea(Melted! ), C.tonkinensis(Melted! ), C.walkeri, C.wendtii 'Brown', C.wendtii 'Green', C.wendtii 'Green Gecko', C.wendtii 'Tropica' and Cryptocoryne x willisii
Oh, juggling is hard work, man!...
yep...thanks to all valuable feedbacks,
so e.tenellus and hair grass are feasible without deep foreground substrate and base fert...thanks
cos my recent test for a riccia foreground doesn;t turn out well, i wrap the riccia against the SS mesh using netting, but somehow most die..turn brown...
perhaps i went without co2 for 2 weeks. just fixed up my 2nd hand co2 canister set, hopefully can try other foreground plants soon...
