there are some factors to consider, imo, yamatos r sensitive towards temp and nitrate level.. the other will be transportation stress
i experience death at 30 degree..

my temp is about 30d anyway to lower it??
I have an AC fan blowing across the water surface. Temp is around 28deg C, and my yamatoes are living comfortably..
Cheers.
When driving, make sure your mata is not on the wanita!!!
ya, i started out jus like u, except I lost more than that.. after I added one AC fan, prob solved.. now got another [] my apisto eating them up
few days back saw one of my yamato shrimp dead on the gravel. this morning i witness one was lying on its side with its legs struggling. it's still alive now but i can tell that it's going to die soon.
anyone can suggest what could be the cause? the rest of the shrimps and fishes look ok to me.
thanks.
could be temperature too high, >30deg?
water quality??

high nitrate/ammonia levels? when did u add them? could oso be due to transport shock...
oh, the shrimps were introduced since the tank was setup in May. water ph is about 6.5, kh about 4-5. at the time when i saw the shrimp struggling, the temp. is about 28.5c. no test kits to test nitrate/ammonia levels.----------------

i have about 140 various tetras in the 4x2x2 tank, ~30 yamato and 50 malayan shrimps, 4 SAE, 4 OTO and recently 2 male apisto agga. there is no sign of injury on the dead shrimp. everyone else seem to be happy...
thanks.
confirm water conditions
most likely culprit is N, either nitrite or nitrate
since it's an established tank, it's probably nitrate
water changes would be in order here
i have the same problem
have to change water regularly
thanks.
funny thing is that i couldn't find the dead body of the struggling shrimp spotted this morning??? saw few shrimp shells at different spots. could it be that the struggling shrimp is not dying? it's just shedding its shell?
anyone know how shrimps shed their shell?
if this is the case, then i just have 1 died few day back. but still don't know why []
My yamatos i've just bought died when i
introduced them to my "Mature" tank ???
i simple put them straight in frm the bag
dun know if its ok
my Tank spec should be ok
PH about 7 below
Temp is 28 below
my tank consist of cardinal , neon , lampeyes tetras
others r 3 wood shrimp big !
malayan , bumble bee shrimp
PS one Clown Loach
Did you introduce them slowly, like place the bag in the tank for 30 mins and let the temperature equalise, then slowly open the bag and let the tank water and the bag water mixed prior to releasing them in the tank? If not then might have been the shock of being introduce to different temp too soon.
Just a thought!
I will agree with Hugo on this one.....yamatoes are very sensitive to PH and temperature differences....

The title below my name does not make me a guru...listen at your own risk!...
Also, clown loaches do prey on shrimps... haven't seen it myself, but a friend of mine has seen his clown loach grab a shrimp and basically shake it about until it died.
