I went along to Osram here in Dubai today and bought 4 NOFL 8,000k and I was wondering if this is ok to use in the planted tank? The specs are as follows:

    Product No. L36/880 8,000K

Below are the specs and the spectrum from their website:

Can anyone tell me if this is useful? I believe it should peak on Red and Blue to be effective for plants.

    Regards
    Arshad

    Hi,

From what I know, you're right, most lights built specifically for plant growth peak at both the blue and red ends with very little in between, the tubes you're looking at seemed to be designed in the opposite fashion. I do not know why as well.

    Cheers

Well I ended up not using these tubes. I did however go and buy Arcadia 9,500K lights and although it's expensive, I am impressed

    Thank you boss
