    Killing BGA

I've been bothered by this BGA for over 3 weeks now. I had started this tank (2ft) for about 5 weeks already with old ADA soil from old tank. It starts to coat over my spreading HC, some other plants, gravel and even my stones. I've been picking them out and scrubbing the stones but they keep appearing.

    This are the specs:
    Tank : Standard 2ft (54 liters)
    Lighting : 36 x 2 PLC
    Substrate : ADA soil
    Temperature : 24~25 degs celcius
    EI dosing : NO3 - 20ppm (4x per week)
    PO4 - 2ppm (4x per week)
Other day with Trace (TMG) - 5 ml (3x per week)
    pH : 6.2
    kH : 4

I have blasted my CO2 high, now I'm left with 2 cardinals.
I have read somewhere that Erthromycin can wipe out BGA. Where can I get them? How does it look like?
I'm trying not to toss away my HC as it has already spread nicely on the foreground.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Nobody ask you to kill your critters with high CO2. I knew somebody will do it especially if they don't know what they are doing.

You can kill BGA off with a complete total blackout of the tank for a couple of days.

Use CO2 with caution...you don't need to kill things to have good growth.

Thanks, I will try the black out method. BTW, should my dosing pattern stays? It wasn't any way my intention to do such cruel thing, because I made a mistake by tweaking the valve a bit and didn't realise the valve was going bad. I already had it replaced.

3x should be more than enough for your tank. Clean the mechanical section of the filter as well.

For the CO2, whenever you do adjustments, be around the whole day and do not just wonder off. Watch the behaviour of your critters especially during the last few hours. Make sure you have some slight surface movement but not a torrent. CO2 is dangerous and can kill your critters if not used well.

actually i think your NO3 and TMG dosing is a little too high too. However that depends on your plants too, fast growers i believe no prob, however, your high dosing requires weekly or biweekly water change, or else it wont be too good. Yup, black out should do the trick. Anyway most algae other than BBA needs blackout to help in extermination

BGA does not go away by itself through scrub and clean. You need total blackout. Cover fish tank with newspapers, blankets and black trash bags respectively. BGA should go away after 3 days (at least)
