Yamato shrimp.
SAE, fast and furious
Cheers,

Hair algae = Yamato has been a top choice
SAE = yes and no. When they are mature and fat, they like algae wafer instead![]()

they do a great job too in numbers.. but not efficient as Yamatos..though
pencil fish helps too....
SAE and yamatos...heard a hair algae 2 days ago..put them both in...and it's cleared in a day!
I've heard Black Mollies will do the job too and remove the film that developes on the water's surface... Just added 1 Black Molly to my tank, sure enough, he's cleared the surface film, got to wait 'til tomorrow to see if he'll do anything about the hair algae though...
Yamato gets my vote too. They are most useful when the hair algae is growing among mosses and physical algae removal is as good as throwing away the moss...![]()
koah fong
Juggler's tanks
my vote go for yamato too. clear my 1ft tank just by a day
Yamamtos are the best IMHO.
For a 4 feet how many yamatos to get the job done?
maybe between 5-10
depends hw fast you want them to clear![]()

Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?
WAtch it. Yamato shrimps cant keep alot. They will go for the plants if they do not have enough algae.

Agree with barmby, they once went for the leaves of my hygrophilia difformis as there were too many of them and too little algae.
Hi All,
This may come too late. But Good Info to tackle hair algae. Use a fish call "American Flag". Actual name don't know.

I also have this hair algae problem often since I leave my plants beside the window. However, whenever this problem occurs, I would place the hair algae infested plant into my 1 ft Malayan shrimp tank and they does the job pretty well too. But usually I don't feed them when I need them to work their wonders. After they cleaned up the plant, then I take it out. Works for me though.Yamotos are good but too agressive for my liking.
