    Guys,

Juz wondering, can we use red brick stones for aquascaping?
Do they have any side effect for the water chemistry?
If yes, is it good or bad effect?

Any pic to show the "red brick stones"? I haven't an idea how these stones looks, you can always do an acid/vinegar test to see if it will rise pH....As far as I know, bricks are made from clay which is rich in iron content.

If you are refering to the clay based red brick, then it's fine. Some fishkeepers use them for their apisto and plecos too.

But for aquascaping, it's going to be challenging to make those big red blocks into something visually pleasing. We'll be curious to see what you have in mind. Do show us a picture when you have the opportunity.

    Cheers,

The sharp edges resulting from this exercise may not be too fauna friendly, especially to the cleaning crew.

    Cheers,
yup i agree with you. it will also be too tedious to file the sharp edges. but if really want to try out, try picking those without any sharp edges one.

... and it could look like natural stones when later covered with -- algae.

BTW - why not also consider those rocks found at constructions or road laying time etc... some are quite natural looking.

hm... i do hope the workers don't need that granite stone... after all, the materials do belong to the construction company and it isn't good to just pick them up and bring home..

    Ooppss...wrong confession, Hirowen !

Yeah I meant the red brick stone used for construction. Because I think it's no need to use a natural & beautiful looking of stones if we want to cover all its surface with moss / riccia... Besides, maybe the clay based brick stones (that construction brick stones basicly made from clay, right?) got something useful for plants, like Fei Miao said that they're rich in iron...
About the sharp edges, that bricks are not so hard, we can just scrub / rub them to another hard material.
We can also try to shape them...

Hmm, vinegar test... How should I do it...?

Haha, you better dun steal from any construction site har!

you can juz drip some vinigar on the brick. if got bubble reaction thats mean it may contain limestone which will change ur water condition.
